Waste Reduction project ideas:

1.        Composting projects:

a.     Small scale - encourage and support household composting and support and advertise local composting including businesses using responsible packaging.

b.     Large scale -Investigate and support the creation of an island-wide composting system , including the possibility of a glass crushing system on San Juan, or the possibility of initial use of the Orcas plant.

2.        Plastic Reduction 

a.     Education and support for a single-use plastics ordinance 

b.     Education for reducing plastic in the home and in the community 

3.        Recycling 

a.     Encourage The Port of Friday Harbor and Roche Harbor to reinstitute recycling , highlighting business that are using responsible packaging.

b.     Educate and support producer responsibility packaging decisions.
